During Sedgefield’s Slow Festival, the Village Green forms the central axis around which everything turns.
This year the Village Green setup will move down to the eastern side, offering a much bigger area for the exciting array of food and craft stalls. With both the Mitchells’ Craft Beer Garden and the entertainment tent flanking the green, there will be more than enough to please even the most discerning festival supporter.
Evening events include the highly successful Slow Festival Opening Night on Thursday 24th March and a Music Trivia Evening on Sat 26th March. The Drive-in will be moving to Whistle Stop Café with an unbeatable 3 night movie line-up of The Blind Side, August Rush and The Hundred-Foot Journey.
The children’s playground is adjacent to the green, offering parents the opportunity to sit back, relax and enjoy performances by local musicians while keeping an eye on the young ones who are playing, or learning how to mosaic in the craft tent run by Masithandane or making dreamcatchers with the FreshStart creative team. Various charities will also be raising funds through their stalls on the green so pop along to your favourites and see what they have on offer.
The bigger area on the green will bring a first class Mercedes display from Stanmar Motors as well as events such as the Sotheby’s Slow Biking, the Hill’s Dog Walk, Talk and Show, Dog Agility Show and Freshstart’s Boeresport right into the midst of spectators while the view for the Out of the Bin Fashion Show and the Magic Show with Jannie de Bruin & Tommy Tomsen will be much improved.
Should you need any assistance in where to go and what to see, you can visit the Slow Festival Information Gazebo, see the entries of the colouring in competition, cast your vote for the Outstanding Community Member or come and take a Slow Festival Selfie in the ‘Selfie Frame’.
Like the village square of old, this is truly the place to meet, have fun and know that whatever you spend will benefit a charity or small local business.
