All are invited to walk or drive ‘The Way of the Cross’ through our village centre and up the dune to Smustville. En-route, they can spend a little time in each of seven church venues, contemplating the journey that Jesus Christ made 2000 years ago, from the time He entered Jerusalem to the `Hosannas’ of the crowds on the first Palm Sunday, to the suffering and victory at Calvary, and the loneliness of the garden tomb.
The route will begin at Sedgefield Christian Church on N2 (north). There will be clear route markers to the other venues.
Beautiful informative brochures with full details, scriptures and prayers to enhance and enrich the experience, will be available at the participating churches and also from the Slow Festival Information Centre on the Village Green for a donation of R10.
Children are very welcome to participate in this pilgrimage under the guidance of family members.
There will be water points on the route, and marked transport provided by volunteers, for those who would like to both walk and ride.
Opening times for displays:
- Thursday 2nd April – 2pm to 6pm
- Good Friday 3rd April – 4pm to 6pm
- Saturday 4th April – 9am to 5pm
On Easter Sunday, on the Village Green, the Mass Choir of Sedgefield will close the Slowfest Programme with a short presentation of Songs and Dance celebrating the joy of the Resurrection.
