Advocate Julie Seton versus Activist Susan Campbell
Advocate Julie Seton is unable to stop herself from getting stuck in sticky situations. This time she’s issuing misdirection that can only benefit the man she supports, Grant Easton. Easton is in the news because he’s been suspended as Knysna’s Municipal Manager.
ADVOCATE JULIE SETON
Advocate Seton runs the Knysna Knews Facebook page. It was used as propaganda for the Democratic Alliance (DA), targeting me more than any other after I submitted my allegations of DA corruption to Parliament. It also takes cheap shots at activist Susan Campbell whose complaint has led Easton on the path to a disciplinary hearing.
Seton acted anonymously until I proved that she was behind the web page.
Seton is a member of the legal profession. She is attacking me and Campbell whilst misrepresenting serious municipal situations, whilst being repeatedly involved in court cases against me. Worse is that one of her clients, Mark Allan, was and is doing the same, even from her page. That’s a conflict of interest, emphasised by her having been simultaneously a DA candidate and the wife of a DA politician.
BANNED FOR SPEAKING TRUTH
So that I couldn’t defend myself, Seton banned me from Knysna Knews.
2 days ago, Susan Campbell was banned too – her “sin” was to offend Seton with reasonable comment. But let’s go to the start…
Seton’s post on Knysna Knews followed the opposition’s theme that diverts from the issues themselves by only saying that suspending Easton was a waste of money. By opposition, I mean the current ANC and ex-DA members (who were booted from power at the recent election).
The personal interests of Knysna Knews were well summed up by a member of the public who said that, “Once upon a time that Knysna Knews FB page was an online cheese and wine party for DA Councillors and supporters… a couple of months can be an awful long time in Knysna politics.“
Seton commented that Easton was being “targeted by 2 albatrosses around the neck of our town.” Anyone familiar with context would conclude that she was referring to Campbell and me.
CAMPBELL RESPONDS
Advocate Julie Seton stated with great irony and further misrepresentation that, “We have banned certain individuals. We do not mention names however we as admins will not allow this page to be besmirched with the same vile unsubstantiated allegations besmirching the image of our town and individual reputations.”
Is that what happened? No, it isn’t. Campbell was banned for saying: “So, ladies, if your argument applies to everyone, I assume that we should not investigate and charge Jacob Zuma if it will cost more than his annual salary… and we should allow him to continue on his looting sprees? Should the Public Protector’s budget be limited to the cost of the salaries of the persons investigated? If only you had the same concern over who will be responsible for the irregular expenditure of R15million incurred in connection with the local premium in just two years! …incurred when Mr Easton was CFO and all my complaints to DA Councillors, including Esme Edge, fell on deaf ears.”
It would seem that only those who support the political hen propaganda of Knysna Knews are welcome.
