I think it’s fantastic that the Knysna ANC have accessible offices in town and that one of our empty buildings is now occupied. There’s even a chance they will take a 5-year lease. It would be good if the DA followed suite so that we could have easier access to information and answers (but they probably wouldn’t want us to see that the people on the Ward Committees are the same people working for the DA).
But accessibility does not mean that politicians can ignore the laws of Knysna! I may disagree with certain aspects of the new signage by-laws, and how they were enacted, but reasonable expectations are also included, especially when it comes to historical buildings i.e. you do not get to make our town look less charming by using tacky posters.
There have been complaints which i’d hope to follow-up on with Town Planning but my email address has been blocked by the Knysna Municipality again (they’d make even the Da Vinci Code proud).
So i questioned an ANC official who admitted that they’d received a warning which they’d ignored. I asked why. He said, “Because we’re the ANC.” WTF!
If you love Knysna, you’d respect our history, our beautiful buildings, our beautiful town and the law. Maybe i should write an angry-against-the-ANC blog everyday next week until they remove them and apologise.
