Dragged from my home by Nerene dos Santos and stuffed into a car already stuffed with kids, i was dumped at the wonderful madness of the Knysna Melodrama practice sessions at the Premier Hotel.

Kick, left, kick right (no, the other right, man), drink beer, yell at the kids, “Sssh!” was a show in itself:) There was a pleasurable camaraderie amongst the Knysna Amateur Dramatics Society (KADS) you see little of nowadays.

18 years of shows in Knysna, and a million raised for charity, makes Linzi Jansen, the director, amazing. But, in the moment, i was more impressed that she seemed to know everyone’s lines and dance steps. “This will be my LAST show,” she stated seriously. Then Steve piped in, “That’s what she said last year.”
