Benguela Cove Wines at the Knysna Festival: Explore, Meet, Relax
Visitors to the Knysna Wine Festival can enjoy a selection of fine wines from Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate. The Garden Route’s premier wine event is a highlight of the Knysna Oyster Festival, on the 6th and 7th July 2015, in the official Festival Pavilion on Waterfront Drive.
The featured wines from Benguela Cove are available for tasting and purchase at cellar-door prices to visitors to the show: Chardonnay 2014, Pinot Noir 2014, Shiraz 2012, Matilda’s Secret 2013 and Sauvignon Blanc 2013.
Visitors can meet with the producers and find out about the unique conditions at Benguela Cove that produce award-winning wines. The lagoon estate is situated at the ocean’s edge on the southern coast of South Africa, irrigated by above-average rainfall. The south-easterly sea breeze is chilled by the Benguela Current flowing up from Antarctica, to cool the grapes at night after warm summer days.
The Knysna Wine Festival, now in its 10th year, is a showcase for some 50 of South Africa’s best wine producers. Entry, tasting glasses and the wine guide are R100, with the opportunity to meet and mingle with South Africa’s wine makers in a relaxed setting.
The wine festival is the premier social event of the Knysna Oyster Festival which features more than 100 events ranging from cycling, running and adventure races to gala evenings. It is expected to draw more than 65,000 people to the Garden Route town over the 10 days of the festival.
