Sex, music, racism, inequality etc. – so beautiful, so absurd. Mike Hampton has something to say about it. Maybe the odd diary entry too…

Jeff Bezos, the best trillionaire animal among us!

Mike Hampton Posted on 3rd Jul 2020 by mikehampton3rd Jul 2020

Jeff Bezos is worth R3-trillion. He’s done everything right to be the best animal among us. It’s survival of the fittest. He deserves to be King. The 500 wealthiest people are worth R100-trillion. The interest from that is enough to run South Africa forever. No need for taxes. Imagine that. But the reality is that we, like the rest of the world, are getting recession, and some big companies are going to gobble up more small companies, and more robots will occupy our office chairs – some of them will … Read the full article…

Anti-Lockdown Permit: LFN’s Reyno de Beer loses control on ENCA news

Mike Hampton Posted on 3rd Jul 2020 by mikehampton21st Jan 2021

Last night’s coronavirus news broadcast by eNCA was contentious. News anchor Sally Burdett obviously intended discrediting Reyno de Beer from the Liberty Fighters Network (LFN). He lost control, made a fool of himself and his movement. This discusses what happened, mentions the anti-lockdown permit LFN has issued, and expresses my personal unhappiness with conspiracy theorists and Media that doesn’t get us the facts we need. THE ANTI-CORONAVIRUS LOCKDOWN PERMIT The LFN recently made itself known when it challenged the coronavirus lockdown in court, and won the first round. The case … Read the full article…

Covid-19 deniers, its now the 5th biggest killer in the USA

This is a message to Covid-19 denialists, and a safety emphasis to all. There are real conspiracies. Fight those. Don’t use covid-19 to invent them. Because many big corporates and politicians are unkind, doesn’t mean we have to be unkind. Not wearing a mask isn’t a protest for freedom, it’s selfish. I created this infographic to remind us what’s at stake. I may criticise Cyril Ramaphosa but I’m glad that he’s not the mass murderer, Donald Trump.

The coronavirus confession of a chipaholic

Mike Hampton Posted on 28th Jun 2020 by mikehampton28th Jun 2020

This is my confession, you don’t have to forgive me… Hi, my name is Mike. I’ve a confession to make. I’m not asking forgiveness because my hypocrisy doesn’t deserve it. I’m… err… ahh… mmm… this is so hard… I’m a chipaholic! I criticise smokers and fat people but my chip addiction was out of control when I lived in Knysna. Junk food is the cheapest treat when poor. Every time I had money, I went foraging. I was a neanderthal with a mall for my cave. When the Chinese shop … Read the full article…

Covid-19 Update: Half a million dead, 10 million infections

COVID-19 Coronavirus update 28 June 2020

One line above urges me to say more:   Besides the terrible statistics, a benefit of covid-19 was minks getting infected in the Netherlands. It horrifies me to imagine them culling 800,000 minks – how much blood is that? But by speeding up the closure of mink farms, whose purpose is to make expensive coats (approx 45 minks make 1 coat), 2,400,000 won’t be bred to die. Cynically, Poland or China may try absorb that market, but the supply chain from the Netherlands is disrupted. This is #Day 8 of … Read the full article…

Covid-19 South Africa update 26 June 2020

Deathly Reminder: It’s says a lot about human nature that what was happening in the USA and Europe a month ago was daily news, but as the coronavirus spreads southwards, it’s almost forgotten. Mexico’s deaths are an alarming 25,060, and they’re adding approximately 900 per day. Our South African dead may ‘only’ be 2,294 but that’s more than a 400% increase the past month. After Brazil was where we are now, it took them one month to reach 17,000 dead, and another month to get to where they are now, … Read the full article…

Update 5 June 2020: Coronavirus & CoViD-19 statistics

You may not realise it because the Media’s gotten tired, and so have you, but new cases of covid-19 are breaking daily global records. Our local lockdown has to end but, thereafter, if you don’t play safe, you may kill the people you love. Please skip the conspiracy theories and focus on how easy it is for you to be considerate. If you wash your hands 20 times a day, it’ll only have taken up 10 minutes which is longer than you spend drinking and smoking. I sincerely hope you’re having sex with your current lockdown partner for longer than that, and a perfect explanation for why your kids are facing the kitchen wall with their hands over their ears 🙂 Seriously, be careful. I’m thanking you in advance.

Whilst world gets bored, COVID-19 at record high

Whilst the world gets bored, COVID-19 has reached a record high. There have been 365,880 positive tests in the past 3 days. Over 3,000 people died in Brazil during the same period. The sum total of deaths in Brazil was 178 only 2 months ago. This is a reminder to be cautious because the situation will worsen in our South Africa where, yesterday, there were 32 deaths. Visit the predictions I made 31 days ago. I add that the USA’s current lower figure of, on average, 1000 daily deaths, isn’t a victory or reason to relax – those figures will grow.
