Contentious Buffalo Bay property sale to go ahead
The Knysna Municipality has posted the following press release regards the contentious sale of Erf 65, prime property in Buffalo Bay.
“The Knysna Council has opted for an auction to dispose of the three subdivided portions of Erf 65 in Buffalo Bay. The auction is scheduled for the Easter weekend in April. Acting Municipal Manager Grant Easton said an Auctioneer will be appointed in terms of the Supply Chain Management Policy. “We felt that auctioning these properties will be the most beneficial process to the Municipality. This is a relative fast option and best price can be obtained due to the competitive nature of the process.”
Easton will also attend the auction and act on behalf of the Municipality.
It’s notable that Knysna Municipality has yet to explain the true state of Knysna’s finances to the public yet has been raising loans and intends selling lots of municipal land, starting with this property which has been discussed in detail here before.
Never forget that you, the Knysna reader, are owners of this land. We are the shareholders with the municipal staff working for us. Land lost can never be reclaimed for unforeseen, future needs. In all likelihood, when land is needed, more will have to paid than was gained in the short term.
