Besides the terrible statistics, a benefit of covid-19 was minks getting infected in the Netherlands. It horrifies me to imagine them culling 800,000 minks – how much blood is that? But by speeding up the closure of mink farms, whose purpose is to make expensive coats (approx 45 minks make 1 coat), 2,400,000 won’t be bred to die. Cynically, Poland or China may try absorb that market, but the supply chain from the Netherlands is disrupted.
