On Cape Talk, presenter Africa Melane queried DA Western Cape Liar Bonginkosi Madikizela regards the crisis in Knysna. It’s obvious that the DA’s deliberate cover-up continues…
“It was not a good meeting but it became very clear that there are deep-seated issues in the Knysna caucus. There are personal issues. We, as Leadership, drew the line in the sand – people cannot use personal issues, and take decisions that damage the brand of the party. That was the message we were there to deliver with Provincial Chairperson Anton Bredell, yesterday… The Deputy mayor was removed through a Motion of No Confidence. We were brought up to speed as to why… Myself and other leaders came to Knysna on numerous occasions. We witnessed, ourselves, how disruptive the Deputy Mayor was. he was also part of the meeting yesterday… here, from his part, to continue to disrupt that caucus, working with other members, one in particularly, who is now elected as Mayor. We cannot just use motions of no confidence frivolously, and use personal agendas to get back at members… especially if you’re going to collude with the opposition, and think that’s in the best interests of Knysna. We can’t allow that.”
Madikizela then stated that Knysna Mayor Mark Willemse is also the Speaker of Eden District and that no one can hold two executive positions. He said that’s why they immediately sent him a letter asking him to resign as mayor, “besides the fact that the party wasn’t informed.”
When asked what would happen next and if Madikizela would take some responsibility for not paying enough attention to developments within the DA in Knysna, he replied:
“The Deputy Mayor must act as Mayor for a very short period. We must correct this. We are going to embark on a process whereby we elect the Mayor.”
Prompted to answer regards accepting responsibility for allowing the mess to unfold, Madikizela answered, “It’s unfair to expect the DA leadership to babysit people… I was in Knysna a week ago to dealing with another matter. I was in Knysna on numerous occasions to deal with the Deputy Mayor… I came to conclusion, after yesterday, even though we try, as a party to bring South Africans together from different backgrounds, there are some people who won’t work together because they refuse to work together.”
This is continuation of the cover-up of corruption in Knysna that implicates the DA’s national and provincial leadership. By leaving out everything relevant and important, from Parliamentary hearings to Public Protector investigations, and especially the corruption of previous Mayor Eleanore Spies, Madikizela is a liar. His position would become more extreme if Spies and her ‘husband’, Rowan Spies (another councillor) are in his provincial faction.
To replace DA responsibility for crime with “It’s unfair to expect the DA leadership to babysit people,” explains exactly the type of person Bonginkosi Madikizela is and what the party he represents has sunk to.
