-wait a minute –
– no one asked a question???
That’s true but doesn’t represent what actually happened or compliment the distortions Peter Meyer’s commented on this blog. Here’s Helen Zille, the women who, against the rules of her own party, hasn’t responded to a single query of mine in years. And mine aren’t ordinary queries. They are long and as detailed as Helen Zille, You’re My Disappointment was.
Not expecting no one else to ask a question, I was busy scribbling down what she’d just said. When she launched into the speech she said she wasn’t going to give, I totally expected her to return to the questions. After all, Helen will know that the public are intimidated in public situations i.e. they need encouragement. Not to mention that the Knysna Ratepayers’ Association was in attendance as well as once-politically active members of the DA who were disturbed enough about what was happening with the DA in Knysna that they had managed to organise a meeting, to which i wasn’t invited, with Alan Winde the next day.
At the end of her speech, which never mentioned Knysna at all, I held up my hand to simultaneously amusing and disappointing response as Mayor Georlene Wolmarans, after seeing me, immediately came from around the table, through people, to try to take Helen away. It very much reminded me of how Georlene had disrupted the first ISDF interaction meeting, stopping any interaction. I was ignored but a lady in front of me managed to ask a question concerning whether 3 women at the top of the DA would help sway some of the ANC’s female support (this was the weekend before the disastrous DAgang divorce). She wasn’t answered fully as Helen misunderstood and made to depart so I spoke clearly so all could see and said the approximate of, “I care about what’s happening nationally but I’m more interested in the microcosm of our lives in Knysna which isn’t a microcosm to us at all. When will you answers some questions about Knysna. Surely people such as the Knysna Ratepayers’ Association have questions too?”
For a moment, the room went silent as if people wanted the answers.
Helen, instead of answering me, became defensive, saying that she was a reader of my blog and had arrived at this meeting with a file on me. She said there’d been 27 meetings with me and that I, essentially, would change the goal post. Alan Winde, the next day, said he’d been the one to say there’d been those meeting but he’d said ’21’. It’s semantics because it isn’t true either way. She even said she could read from the file but she didn’t want to embarrass me. Helen made out that they’d been helpful and that I’d been difficult.
This, the same woman who has totally denied her own protocols that require her to respond to my written complaints. The same woman who heads up the DA who has essentially blacklisted me from meeting with them or getting local press coverage. It’s so pervasive that not one person in Eden District, which overshadows our small town, will respond. Additionally, the Eden Corruption Hotline and the DA Corruption Hotline won’t respond to me. There’s also the petition I sent them against grotesque salary increases that they have yet to acknowledge. I could swear that they’re hoping for me to trip over their posturing.
I told her outright that she was a liar which immediately inherited “boos” from the DA supporters.
Leon Naude, Chairman of the Knysna Ratepayer’s Association then stood up in a blue shirt and made a fool of himself. That he got some claps in a room full of old DA shirts doesn’t change that fact. I’ve written about the KRA before, telling you why I left the committee. I intentionally left out names but after his idiotic appearance here, i’ll outright tell you that he was one of the racists I had no time for there. He now said that he hadn’t asked a question of Helen Zille because he knew that it wasn’t the appropriate forum… and that i didn’t know when to use the right one.
- Let me remind you that Helen said, at the start: “I could give a speech but I’m more interested in what people have to say… hearing your problems.”
- Secondly, the KRA was restarted by these DA members who were upset with the DA’s maladministration.
- Thirdly, and most importantly, when would we ever get the Premier of the Western Cape, the boss of our bosses, in front of us again (until this day, she’d been a political ghost for as long as I remembered)?
At that moment, Leon and the KRA totally let our town down… and Leon Naude did it just to score a personal point against me.
The meeting was in disarray and Helen would not meet my eye or answer. Alan Winde stepped in as a rescue and said he’d meet me for a one-on-one the next day. I accepted but said that we should have witnesses. To that, he asked for a witness from the room full of DA supporters. One of them, dressed in blue, volunteered. I said that it would be a waste just to be us and he agreed that others could come too. Immediately, others in the room said they wanted to join us.
I’ll tell you about that meeting next time.
As an ex-fan, I’m disappointed that when push comes to shove she’s no different to the rest of the politicians hurting our land. As a spade is a spade and a duck is a duck, I told Helen Zille she’s a liar because she is.
People gasp and boo as if the rules only apply to us and not to those who control our lives. I called her a liar because she lied – it’s as simple as it gets. Hopefully, you read the Dear Helen letter. Here’s more proof.
