Knysna, the sinking ship of morality and honest thought

I’m sitting on explosive information that, whether true or false, will show how twisted our local politics is.  In the quest for power, our politicians (who are also our neighbours in such a small town) take missteps. Some are deliberate. Some are small… but once enough small ones are taken, they can be quite far away from the original position they sold us that got them into office and into a pay cheque most in Knysna would envy.

I’m dedicating June, appropriately the first month of Winter, to showing you the real face of people who might well be your neighbour or friend.  I’ve had several people warn me to choose my battles and not take on those who are popular. Luna Swart was such an example (and wouldn’t be now if she’d simply apologised, applied transparency and corrected her course). In future, they may well be Peter and Candace Myers, Magda Moos and Eleonor Bouw (pillars of the Brenton, Concordia and Hornlee communities). Many will know those names and so, whoop, just like that, i will likely have pissed off a thousand people.

And a lot of those will recognise those DA-associated names and undoubtedly re-surge the shameless propaganda that “Mike is ANC”. I’m not ANC and i can’t imagine being such when all morality is forsaken every minute that Jacob Zuma isn’t in jail!!!

DOES THE TRUTH MATTER
TO YOU?

Sure, the truth is that the ANC is a fuck-up! But the uncomfortable truth for my mostly white readership is that the DA is a fuck-up too (they’ve just been better at hiding it). And the most relevant truth is that THE DA IS IN CHARGE OF KNYSNA. Do they deserve to get a free ride because they’re controlled by white people? Or because you fear the ANC? Or can you bring yourself to believe that ALL should be treated equally, praised and punished according to their actions, according to right and wrong, and not ridiculous notions such as the colour of their skin or what political party they belong to???

Knysna’s politicians have got the only lifeboat

Fact is that to win Knysna the DA promised us austerity, transparency and an open-door policy. 3 years later and those haven’t happened. THEY LIED TO US… AND YOU ARE LETTING THEM GET AWAY WITH IT.

Personally, my regular readers will know that i believe in independents, people who will serve Knysna by serving their conscience, by judging each issue on its merit rather than by opposing whatever the opposition says –

BUT

– you can continue to be faithful to the DA or the ANC by ensuring that your rotten leaders are replaced with honest members of your community. Fix the DA. Fix the ANC. It doesn’t matter who the final result is, or what clothes our politicians wear, so long as they represent us, not themselves or their bosses in Cape Town and Pretoria!

Why am i telling you all this again? So that you free your mind and think for yourself whilst i rock that political boat that has put us in the leaky engine room of Knysna to drown.
