The DA’s slide continues…
The Democratic Alliance (DA) slide continues as public dissatisfaction grows…
Recently, there were more signs of the DA falling apart. They may have won by-elections in Saldanha and in Oudtshoorn but respectively dropped 17.1% and 9.6% of the vote in comparison to the 2016 elections. That’s massive.
In Knysna, the Public backlash by previous supporters is as loud as Cape Town’s yet strangely unreported. The DA has allegedly and hypocritically ordered that their councillors vote against a secret ballot of no-confidence in DA Mayor Eleanore Spies. It seems that some tricks are only worthy when used against the ANC.
This is despite the DA having long been in possession of evidence against their Mayor and her live-in-partner, also a DA councillor. That involves proven illegal appointments and illegal tenders, and alleged graft and use of Public funds. The DAFedex has lost its moral compass (but only if it ever had one).
Several municipalities in the Western Cape are under investigation. Now that Zuma slides into history, so the DA slides with him.
Instead of learning a lesson and committing to transparency, the DA is attempting to claim credit for the investigations into their own Municipalities. In political marketing, that’s called ‘spin’. The DA has repeatedly failed to address corruption I’ve reported to them so that makes me believe that their objective isn’t the Public interest but an attempt to get rid of factions within that may switch sides just before the election. It’s damage control.
Helen Zille, whom I believe is one of the biggest culprits deserving prosecution under the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Act, continued, this week, to give speeches against corruption. Her stance has become so thinly disguised that I’d laugh if the situation weren’t so serious. Her bestselling book ‘Not Without A Fight’ is going to be renamed ‘I Fought the Public and the Public Won’. That’s not prophecy, just facts leading to her likely future.
The unDemocratic Alliance’s mistake is to think that they can do their business as usual whilst the spotlight slowly turns onto them.
Identity politics is ruining our country on both sides. Don’t defend political gang colours by pointing at the other gang. Wherever we find corruption, we must stand against. If we don’t, our bias will ensure that the quality of our lives continues to slide…
