DA loses half its voters in previous Knysna stronghold
The Democratic Alliance (DA) has swallowed a bitter election pill in an important Knysna by-election. They lost HALF THEIR VOTERS despite campaigning by Premier Alan Winde, DA Federal Finance Chair Dion George and Shadow Minister for Police Dianne Kohler-Barnard. It’s a victory signaling death in the 2021 Local Elections. And appropriate considering that all those bigweights have failed to act on the DA corruption I reported to them. The cover-up continues…
The DA’s decline was emphasised by the recent National Elections, lowered into the well of failed expectations by residents of the Western Cape, the DA’s only stronghold in South Africa.
One of the most important battles to expose DA lies and corruption began in Knysna. I played a major role in that, going where sellout Media, NGOs and Chapter 9 institutions wouldn’t go, which is towards truth. People across the province responded to my online words. They could relate. What was happening in our town was happening everywhere because we’re controlled by the same crooks in Cape Town. Similarly, that makes this post relevant to everyone living in DA-controlled towns and cities.
BATTLEGROUND KNYSNA
Knysna remains a significant battleground. It’s not even a city yet its vortex of wealth and disparity has sucked in major DA players to reveal their dirty hands.
A by-election was fought for Ward 5, a mixed area divided by the N2; the wealthy alongside the coast and estuary, the poor in the farmlands and forest. Those contrasts make it representative of other wards, telling towards what will happen in the 2021 Local Elections.
in 2016, the DA underhandedly funded the ANC’s Velile Waxa to to run as an independent who’d become their partner. They did so knowing he was of questionable character, making them arrogant and foolish. It was appropriate that it capsized as elegantly as an outdoor toilet, their comrade found guilty of tender interference and threatening a woman, and then made the prime suspect in the assassination of fellow councillor, Victor Molosi.
THE DA NEVER LEARNS
But the DA never learned its lesson because its about power for a faction, no matter the cost.
That faction, supported by the DA Federal Executive, was led by Helen Zille but has become a motley crew with her departure. Premier Alan Winde is certainly part of it but MEC Local Government Anton Bredell appears to have as much power as him. They repeatedly protect their corrupt underlings through cover-up that never stops spitting on the Public.
Winde knows how precarious Knysna is which is why he made three public appearances for this small by-election. There’s even a photo of him posing with crooks I reported to him. I refer to Advocate Julie Seton and her life partner, Esme Jeffreys, who’ve been as eager as beavers to do the faction’s local dirty work.
The infamous Dianne Kohler-Barnard, another who chooses DA corruption over the Public, also arrived. As did Dion George, the DA’s Federal Finance Chair whose been made the Constituency head for Knysna.
They knew that fighting for a share of only 2367 votes was important towards controlling the town in 2021, and preventing it becoming a symbol of further erosion of blue in the Western Cape.

WARD 5 BY-ELECTION RESULTS
In 2016, in Ward 5, the DA won 75% of the vote, the ANC 17% – an overwhelming victory.
Yesterday, 21 August, the DA won 41%, KIM 25%, PBI 22% and the ANC 12% – a win that will translate into loss in the long run.
The DA has swallowed a bitter pill signalling doom ahead. And the ANC continued to falter… although I can’t help but wonder if they held back here, in lieu of DA councillors having allowed them to take the Deputy Mayor and Speaker positions in a DA-run town.
The clear and simple fact is that locals are angry at neverending corruption, false promises and propaganda. They want Knysna run by Knysna, not by politicians gambling for greed faraway.
Again, the DA never learned a lesson. New Ward Councillor Hilton Stroebel celebrated his hollow victory with Eleanore Spies whom the DA promoted to the National Assembly after a forensic report found her guilty of widespread corruption. Stroebel has failed to respond to my summary of DA corruption. He may be just another Yes-Man for a salary. Others are sure to be less polite and accuse him of being an Uncle Tom.
Knysna has been choking on what’s been shoved down its throat by the DA. Consequently, the independent parties Knysna Independent Movement (KIM, represented by Susan Campbell) and Plaaslike Besorgde Inwoners (PBI, represented by Alberto Marbi) scored 47% of the vote, collectively more than the DA.
Essentially, KIM took the rich people who fund elections, and PBI took the poor people who protest. It’d make sense for them to collaborate next time. They were friendly during campaigning.
Mehmet Murat ildan said that, “A defeat which opens the gates of victory for you is a wonderful defeat! A victory which opens the gates of defeat for you is a horrible victory!” That applies to what happened here becoming the truth of the future.

THE NEXT DA EROSION
The next tests will be in the two wealthiest areas.
Ward 9 runs from Thesen islands to Pezula Golf Course. Ward 10 has most of the businessess and a lot of the middle class.
Neither is officially scheduled for by-election but Alan Winde is trying to replace Mayor Mark Willemse and Mayoral Committee Member Peter Myers with members of his faction. If Winde succeeds, it’s likely that Willemse and Myers will join KIM where their best friend Susan Campbell is. They may not win those by-elections but will, again, take significant bites that translate into proportional votes in 2021, the swing votes that will likely control Knysna.
The DA used false allegations of child abuse and sociopathy to try destroy me. They will probably succeed in jailing me for writing the book that exposed their corruption. Power in the wrong hands is worse than tik. Knysna, expect viciousness ahead!
