One of the biggest obstacles i’ve encountered is that there are people in Knysna who don’t make decisions according to right or wrong, according to the evidence or the Municipality’s refusal to answer questions, but rather according to who they are friends with or doing business with. None can say that Knysna’s small business community has prospered because of it. The ironic consequence of short term greed and misguided relationship is that they then screw friends and family who were not directly involved.
So i’m asking everyone to please look at what’s happening which is the total trampling of our rights in Knysna. The Municipality steamrolled us with the tourism issue. Then the ISDF tender. Now the signage laws which will damage many already damaged small businesses yet leave big, outside businesses alone (who is working for who?).
There are people on Ward committees (which was the final spur for today’s blog – i will right more about this if they continue to act illegally), the municipal staff, ratepayer’s organizations and the Tourism Board who are someone’s neighbour, maybe yours. They are people like you with the exception that they, through recruitment or volunteering, have taken on a position of power and then chosen to abuse it with dishonesty. If they are dishonouring their position then the most likely reasons they are there is for social status or money. They are part of the corruption.
Each bad decision, and the biased support of it, costs Knysna (that means you and me) lots of money which we obviously can’t afford. Practically, Knysna is bankrupt. We have tons of debt, as a town, yet one thing we’re assured of is more wasted money and more fines. It’s impractical for our our future.
I am pursuing justice as best as i can. This will include bringing down as many of these bad people as possible or, at least, making you aware of who they are. It would be so much better and helpful if, when i extend a hand to people for a conversation of truth, that they’d simply accept and follow the rules and the laws that their position requires.
Given a choice between co-operation and fighting, i’d choose co-operation with them every time!
Bias damages Knysna. Please don’t support your bad friends and colleagues who are hurting Knysna.
