Eskom Power Crisis Update
In an about turn, Eskom has announced that there will be no power cuts as announced yesterday and earlier today.
South Africa experienced darkness on Sunday, November 2, as a result of emergency load shedding after a coal silo by the main feeder at Majuba in Mpumalanga collapsed. They have since brought in conveyors to feed the coal directly into the remaining silos.
That one incident can affect a whole country is an issue in itself. More immediately, why did the silo, that came crashing down, pass a safety inspection in 2013? Expect heads to roll.
