Germany’s Clean Energy Revolution — No Comments

  1. Germany are doing it, South Africa is doing the opposite.
The irony is that we have adopted German building regulations for energy efficiency, but still want to exploit coal, nuclear and shale gas, ignoring this bold step taken by Germany.
The biggest spanner in the works was the failure to implement the REFIT system, where anyone can supply the grid. This has not happened here because of some stupid legal issues.
But all is not lost, I hear that George now has a system where you can feed the grid, and George municipality pay you the same rate they pay escom for power. They still sell at a profit, so they are happy, it may take a little longer to pay back the cost of your solar panels, but it does open the door to other innovative ways to generate power, without having to use battery storage.
