Deceit: “The action or practice of deceiving someone by concealing or misrepresenting the truth.”
The submission of my allegations of corruption and maladministration to Parliament was detailed.
Although it’s been reported that the Public Protector has been asked to take over, I’ve yet to be notified of such and thus consider the news to be a comedy of media errors. However, since the Public Protector’s office is aware of it, it’s possible that there have been informal talks. The situation would be sticky, like someone else’s bubblegum, because my submission included a complaint against the local Public Protector’s office.
Knysna Municipal Manager Grant Easton and the DA’s lies regarding Knysna Tourism were not the only deceptions. As large were those regarding the ISDF, the so-called 30-year plan for Knysna that some of us have stood against as the initial tender was granted to a consortium that didn’t win the bid and had the most conflict of interest.
It would seem that the Western Cape government has better relationships with property developers than they do with the public.
Grant Easton’s appointment was controversial from the beginning. He is now is besieged, under an external investigation for reasons yet to be fully determined. In this little town, it was the scandal in the run-up to the local elections held last week. The fact that the public doesn’t fully understand what’s happening underlines the need for more transparent government, free of personal relationships wherein the ANC and some DA councillors seemed to have worked together against the public.
It was mostly Grant Easton who deceived Parliament BUT he was accompanied by the DA’s then-Mayor Georlene Wolmarans and then-Deputy Mayor Esme Edge. Communications Manager Christopher Bezuidenhout was there too. It was a shared presentation i.e. they all need to be held accountable.
Edge, through her Attorney Carl Jeppe, has refused to respond to me in any matter. Wolmarans must be considered a pivotal figure in the Knysna Municipality’s unconstitutional blocking of communication. She continues to ignore me. However, their side has already been presented to Parliament so I’m not amiss in submitting further response publicly.
This is proof that with the ISDF, the future of Knysna, Parliament was delivered more deceit.
