The hoo-ha that the Knysna-Plett Herald and the Democratic Alliance (DA) made about my interaction with Helen Zille was exaggerated. I explain more in ‘An Honest Helen Zille Will Be Outraged at Her Minions’. Next week, I’ll post recordings of the whole meeting (that includes good things too).

Now, I share with you the 4-page, ‘Helen Zille flyer’ that I handed to her and others present at that meeting at the Knysna Angling Club.

After our short meeting, Helen Zille said she’d read it and, during our conversation, said she’d ask her staff to find my previous emails to her.

I stress to you, as I did to her, that this flyer is only a fraction of the problems we’ve been experiencing in Knysna. The purpose of the leaflet was to highlight a few issues whilst questioning the questionable selection of Dr Martin Young and Rowan Spies (yes, of Eleonor Bouw-Spies fame) as DA candidates.

DR MARTIN YOUNG

Dr Martin Young has been made a DA candidate despite me notifying the DA (Helen Zille and Jaco Londt) of his participation in a nasty propaganda campaign against me. They were also notified of his threats.

He threatened local businesses if they associate with me, ignoring that I’ve been helping businesses for free for years. He even went door to door to try to get them to donate money to help to get me in jail.

In no reasonable world would a political party risk a liability such as this but the DA, in its arrogance and pursuit of cover-up (which requires destroying my life), has made him their representative. Here are extracts from Young’s emails:

“The moment it is out there that [they] support you and enable you, there is bound to be a consequence to their business.”

“You seem not to realize that you are in no position to negotiate.
I’m surprised you even tried. We hold all the cards, and have all the power
to make your life really and truly miserable.”

“You have 72 hours to comply with the first two requests, failing which my team’s efforts to see you imprisoned as soon as possible will intensify. “

“Jail is more than likely your next Knysna destination.”

ROWAN SPIES

Was Rowan Spies, the Knysna Democratic Alliance’s #1 candidate to the Eden District, involved in an ANC cash for jobs scheme? An auditing report raises serious questions.

In 2011, when his wife, Eleanore Bouw-Spies, was the ANC Mayor of Knysna, Spies was the front-man for a company called Xylophone Investments. His partner was Estelle Gie, wife of a local businessman.

Xylophone Investments was involved in scandals in Bitou Municipality a.k.a. Plettenberg Bay.

One controversy involves a Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) function hosted by Bitou. It may also have vanished from the public mind but a report by the auditing firm Mazars, initiated after the DA won the municipality, offers a window into kickbacks from Xlyophone to Ralph Links, then Bitou’s Head of Strategic Services. Links was considered to be ANC.

In a nutshell, Xylophone charged for work that they didn’t do. Ralph Links then provided that work at the public’s expense. Money, with the reference ‘Ralph’ was paid into the joint account of Rowan and Eleonor Bouw-Spies.

Estelle Gie, Rowan’s partner, claimed that it was an error that should’ve been referenced ‘Rowan’. However, she was unable to explain why the amount was separate to Rowan’s share paid a minute before.

Additionally, she lied that PAYE tax was paid on the ‘Ralph’ payment. In fact, all Spies’ payments, except for ‘Ralph’ had PAYE paid.

Worsening matters, Mazar’s proved that Gie fraudulently altered a date on an email so as to support her version of events with a falsehood.

LAST TIME…

It’s very clear that Knysna is in crisis. Only a fool wouldn’t have noticed the repeated scandals and fights for power. If you love our town, be responsible for asking questions and expecting answers.

How could Knysna, in which so much wrongdoing has been exposed, have gotten a clean audit?

Helen Zille is not supposed to be a celebrity. She is supposed to be the Premier of the Western Cape. That means that she has a duty to us. It’s distressing that she only turns up before elections so as to pump the DA vote.

Last time she was here, she boasted about the AGANG merger. By Monday, it had fallen apart, the joke of the media.

She refused to answer questions about Knysna. To rescue her, MEC Alan Winde said he’d meet me the next day. He never acted on those discussions and refused to hand over a copy of the recording. The cover-up continued…

Since then, I’ve faced court case after court case. They know I have no money and no legal representation. It’s been a trial by fire. But I’m learning and my allegations of corruption are being proven. Will they use public funds to hire the best lawyers and advocates? Will they use public funds to pay the damages?

There was no need for 5 years of scandal and loss. Why wouldn’t Helen Zille simply engage in honest discussion and subsequent investigation? WILL SHE DO SO NOW???
