Help Now: Fix Knysna by Keeping Her on the Map
This month, more than any other the past 4 years, 9 months, i need your help. You need to help yourself and Knysna too. Read all the way to the bottom please.
The Cape Times has written a short but powerful piece on what happened when we presented our allegations of Knysna corruption to Parliament yesterday. Click the picture to enlarge and read more easily.
There are two other media postings online and the SABC recorded my conversation with them earlier (the line was bad and i could barely hear so i’m guaranteed to suck on that one – hopefully they return for a proper interview). I never get my hopes up because the journey has been so long and hard (and is a long way from over for me) but it’s certainly motivating that there’s media movement.
Our small towns have far too long been forgotten by national media. As usual, locally, The Edge and Knysna Plett-Herald are silent when it matters most.
We finally have a glimmer of hope at bringing real attention to questionable activities happening in our local government. Although i’ve done my best to keep issues alive in your minds and hearts, the simple fact is that what i do isn’t enough… and we need, big positive action i.e. investigation before elections. Even before then, our communal energy can force the DA and ANC to reject some of those politicians seeking re-election. Let’s make them put more new folk in.
I support independence and despise big party politics so, for me, it’s irrelevant if the ANC or DA wins – i judge on actions, not political colouring. But in a DA-run town, a lot of you do care, one way or the other. That apples to DA supporters especially – YOU NEED TO MAKE A BETTER DA if you’re to stand a chance at holding onto this pretty town so fill of problems no in power is being fully honest about.
I need your help. You can make a difference this week. SONA ‘nonsense’ and ensuing protests, absolutely necessary (even though i question whether the motives are for us or the fight for power that doesn’t care about us) will steal the country’s attention. Help me keep citizens, journalists and government interested in OUR STORY. Keep Knysna and the 68 000 or more of us on the map.
A) Even if it’s only R10, please donate to advertising these articles. If you can do more, please do. I need to promote them online as well as print copies. I need to phone media and anyone else who has the power to gain us attention.
Please mark your donation clearly with “Parliament donate” so that i can prove that i received it and show you that it was spent appropriately (i’m happy to show a screenshot of my bank account BUT WITH YOUR NAMES DELETED so as protect you for whoever else sees it – yes, i may fight the fact, but it’s the fearful town that’s been made the past 5 years). You can donate anonymously.

I believe that we’re at a critical moment so i’m going to embarrass myself by emailing lots of people too.
I have a week to submit more substantiating info to Parliament. Most of my time will be spent on doing just that, especially focusing on how information has been withheld and who withheld it, from journalists to politicians. This will also help me prepare one leg of my eventual case that will bring a local newspaper to justice.
Let’s steal back the train and clean out the gravy. Let’s make a difference. WE CAN. THE CHOICE TO DO SO TAKES A SECOND TO MAKE.
An article in the Business Day can be viewed here. Another reporter contacted me this morning so hoping for a weekend article too.
