Important Knysna ISDF Meeting – Monday, 5pm, Woodmill Walk
The future of Knysna will be decided through the ISDF process.
Developers and Knysna Municipality kept key organizations out of the process and then, seemingly illegally, awarded the tender to people with conflicts of interest.
There is a court challenge which means that the process cannot legally begin yet, with arrogance (and possible greed), they’ve decided to ignore the public (YOU) again and go ahead with it, essentially forcing their will upon us.
Lauren Waring, our controversial Municipal Manager, has also chosen to ignore residents’ associations. Our Mayor, Georlene Wolmarans, has again forgotten to be our leader. In fact, our politicians, from both the ANC and the DA, have been scarily silent which worries me that big business, and BEE bullshit, may hope to get a piece of the pie (keep in mind that none of our political parties have shown us where their campaign funds have come from).
That is not democracy! That attitude is typical of what’s being destroying our town and our future. There is a darker, economic storm on the way. Life will, unfortunately, get harder. I’m not intending to be an alarmist but rather encouraging you to take a deep and loving interest in Knysna and treat her as your home. Let’s stand as an informed and united community and take back control of our lives.
On Monday, September 9, at 5pm, there will be an ISDF meeting at Connection Cafe in Woodmill Walk (the building where the library is temporarily located). Please ensure that representatives of your community are there to say “hi” to our mayor. Let’s make the free refreshments run out because we were there to help decide our future.
Please share this page with your neighbours.
PS: If you are new to the ISDF tender issue, start educating yourself and friends here and here.
There was a notice in the Knysna Plett Herald providing dates and locations where the registration forms could be collected to become part of the SDF process. sedgefield Library was one location where one could go on 10 September. I went to Sedgefield Library today to collect a form. They not only did not have the form there but did not even know what I was talking about. The lady in the office said that ‘they always do that’. How can a community function efficiently if the ones that have leading responsibilty cannot even provide such basic service.
Thanks for telling us, Hannes. It would seem that their claims of public interaction are false. They were false for the tender process and false for the meeting last night.
