Q & A with Michelle Wasserman (Deputy Mayor)
There’s an intensive interview about serious, Knysna issues with our Deputy Mayor at The KEEP. I recommend you read it. I’d added a few light-hearted questions for balance but it seems more appropriate to place those here, at Love Knysna. After all, we can be many things and, in the case of Michelle Wasserman, she’s an advocate, wife, politician and Knysna lover all rolled into one.
WM: Who are your role models and inspirations?
A: It really depends on the situation. I have a long list of people I draw inspiration from. Top of that list is always my husband.
WM: What is your favourite thing to do to relax or have fun?
A: Travel, read, yoga, dance, conversation and cappuccino with a good friend.
WM: Where is your favourite place to go for eats or drinks?
A: Can’t choose between Cafe Mario, Sirocco, East Head Cafe and Cruise Café.
WM: Which places in Knysna do you consider to be the most beautiful?
A: There are so many! My favorites are Buffalo Bay, Jaap se Baai, the Heads and Drupkelders.
WM: How did you become a politician and where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
A: I firmly believe that we have reached a point in time where every person who wants to see a positive change in our country, must take action. About a year ago my husband and I were having a discussion about how one could get involved in order to really make a difference. We decided that local government is the best place to do that – so I decided to stand as a candidate for the local government elections. In 5 years time? I hope to be settling in for another 5 years at the Knysna Municipality.
