Kam Chetty is Knysna’s New Boss
Kamalasen ‘Kam’ Chetty became Knysna’s Municipal Manager on July 4 2017, hopefully bringing an end to the ferris wheel of people in that chair before him.
Chetty holds a Higher Diploma in Business Management.
He was previously the Municipal Manager of the Cape Wineland’s District Municipality.
In 2015, MEC Anton Bredell put him in charge of Oudtshoorn Municipality after it was placed under administration in terms of section 139 of the Constitution (ex-ANC Mayor Gordon April has been sent to jail for 7 years). Whether Oudtshoorn is better off, two years later, is still the subject of debate on social media. The hundreds of millions the town owes continues to hamper service delivery but Chetty is to be complimented for having got of rid of illegal service providers (who even held him hostage).
It’s my hope that he stops political interference in the Administration segment of the Knysna Municipality, running our town for us instead of for factions and Cape Town. More than ever, we need a strong person in his position.
Welcome, Kam Chetty. Please open your door to the Public.
