Kevin Grinaker is well-known figure in Knysna as a property developer and as a Knysna Ward 10 (Knysna Central) Committee member. For the latter, he has tendered his resignation to the Council, citing the lack of financial opportunity in Knysna as his reason.
I will not miss Kevin Grinaker as he, along with Dee Hollely, broke the rules governing their responsibility to the Knysna public. I detailed this in ‘Does Political Bias Reward Knysna Ward Committee Members?’. He would not ‘entertain’ my submissions regarding property developers riddling the ISDF and Knysna Tourism’s impending bankruptcy.
Not an indictment but I also find it worrying that Grinaker has had relationships with others who have deliberately hampered my search for truth in Knysna.
I can hope that someone more moral is elected, someone who ensures that the rules are followed and political bias vanquished.
Another reason for this blog is that someone in a meant-to-be reputable position has admitted to the financial hardships we face as a town. The “good news” our local municipality and Knysna Tourism send out feels like a paradox. Yes, we must celebrate good news but we must also face bad news so that we can defeat it.
