I am confused by your confusion.
I mailed 5 members of the board 11 days ago. If none of those Board members were responsible enough to pass the email on to you, then your first question should have been to query them. Thereafter i did receive an email from Greg, in which you were CCied, and again CCied in my response…and still a meeting wasn’t set up. Additionally, why did Tourism’s CEO respond to my query to you? I CC this mail to the other Board members so that they can’t say that there was a lack of communication amongst Board members.
The only reason why you’re responding to me is because of my blog. That leaves me very disappointed with you and the Board.
Good faith is not, as you did now, to use words so as to give them meaning more convenient to you. You just attempted to change the Truth of the situation which only makes me distrust yours and the Boards motives. It was obvious, from the moment i blogged, that the requirements for reconciliation had changed. This is not only about me (i’m undoubtedly screwed). It’s about responsible Tourism and government. If you wish to be a responsible Chairman, and your Board along with you, then begin by making the Tourism budget available to the public and invite discussion and questions that would be answered as priority. It would be such a positive if you would do so today. Consecutively, Shaun van Eck’s positives and negatives should then be weighed.
Hoping that you love Knysna too and email me:
- 2010 & 2011 budgets
- 2010 community projects (not the advertorial, real information)
- 2011 community project plan
- Oyster Fest 2010 & 2011 budget breakdown
- Pick ‘n Pay & Worldsport’s mandate for Oyster Fest
- The deals with people who work both for both Knysna Tourism and Worldsport
That would be much appreciated. And co-operation with understanding those budgets and reports would be most welcomed too.
Thank you.

Subject: Invite to discuss Knysna Tourism
Hi,
Thank you for your mail, though I must admit I am somewhat confused with your approach. You manage to publicly attack those you have not even met or had the decency and courtesy to make contact with. Then you express anger when you do not get a response to your outbursts. A simple telephonic or e-mail invite to myself would have resulted in a response.
While much of the flaws in your business approach can be discussed, I would like to take the initiative to invite you to meet both Mr Greg Voigt and myself as members of the Knysna Tourism board to discuss your concerns.
If Wednesday morning at 10h00 in Knysna would suit you we can arrange the venue.
If you could bring the following :
All documents pertaining to your arrangements with Knysna Tourism, and
Any contracts relating to any business joint ventures with Knysna Tourism we can peruse them discuss options into the future.
Let’s take this opportunity to follow concise business protocols and procedures so that there can be no future misunderstanding from your side.
Yours sincerely,
Mark Dixon
