We seek chess sets for the children of Knysna. Chess encourages better thinking through learning patience and strategy. It’s also fun and thus a good way to keep kids off the streets whilst socialising.

Terry Quirk, a Chief Arbiter for chess, and Mike Hampton, from Love Knysna Projects, have begun a pilot project in the Rastafarian community of Judah Square which is found in Khayalethu, Knysna. They are currently giving 10 kids lessons and hope to expand that.

Importantly, the kids need their own chess sets for practice. Do you have an old chess set you don’t use? Please donate it. Or purchase one from CNA for R100 (the best sets for value and quality plus they can order the same product from their other branches if they run out).
