Knysna Fire Builder’s Rubble Waste Disposal Site
The Western Cape Government has approved the Knysna Municipality’s rubble waste disposal site on privately owned land off the Simola/Blaricum Heights road for the next six months to temporarily store building rubble resulting from the emergency situation that related to fires in early June. The municipality has requested permission to have this builder’s waste material crushed on site.
It is important to note that no hazardous materials, such as chemicals and asbestos will be allowed to be dumped on this site.
The tip can be accessed from three different directions. The Eastern Access allows motorists to take the Simola Hotel turn-off from the N2 and follow the road until it becomes a dirt road. The tip site is 575m on the left-hand side along the gravel road.
For the Southern access, motorists travel up Grey Street and follow the tar road until its end. The tip site is 6kms along the dirt road on the right.
And finally for the Eastern access, motorists must turn onto the Uniondale road at Khayalethu and follow the road for 2.5kms through Kayelethu until it becomes a dirt road. They then take the first left and follow the road for 7kms, the tip site is on the right.
Operating hours: Monday to Thursday 07:30 till 16:30. Friday from 07:30 to 14:00 and Saturday 08:00 till 13:00.
The site charges R25 excluding VAT per cubic meter; Sorting of mixed loads R325 per cubic meter; LDV R40 excluding VAT;
