It has been alleged that an illegal Director of the Knysna Municipality is occupying a million rand per annum position.

Democratic Alliance Mayor Eleonore Bouw-Spies, Speaker Georlene Wolmarans and new Communications Manager Fran Kirsten, will not answer my questions. It enforces that uncomfortable feeling that it’s government against us… INSTEAD OF FOR US folk of Knysna.

I say “another” because Grant Easton was illegally the Chief Financial Officer. He never had an accounting degree yet was in charge of Knysna’s budget. He then became Municipal Manager, a position strangely requiring less. Easton is currently suspended, awaiting a disciplinary hearing.

Both Easton and the Director I’m not naming were hired by previous Municipal Manager Lauren Waring. If I’m understanding the law correctly, then DA Mayor Georlene Wolmarans (now Speaker) would have to have stamped her approval. Thereafter, Council would have voted them in.

Before you read my email to them, ask yourself if Mayor Eleonore Bouw-Spies was being honest when promising transparency and better communications during her election campaign?

If the rumours of an illegal director are false, she should immediately squash them so that our town isn’t distracted whilst there are so many other important issues. If the allegation is true, then the law requires the immediate removal of the Director.

Either way, Mayor Bouw-Spies is failing us…

…and chose instead to issue a press release against me whilst DA Councillor Dr. Martin Young and other DA supporters ran a vicious propaganda campaign against me…

It’s ridiculous that I have to repeatedly use blogging to try to get her to do her job (for which she is very well paid).
