The Knysna Municipality has paid 3 penalties totaling R67 661.

1. A dispute between two contractors, for infrastructure in the northern suburbs, had Knysna Municipality siding with Sintec Consulting Engineers against RobCon Civils. This led to the Knysna Municipality withholding paying to RobCon who took them to the Adjudication Board which found in favour of RobCon and decided that they must be paid R16 231 interest on the amounts withheld.
2. Back in 2009, when under ANC rule, the Knysna Municipality was  taken to High Court where it was decided that their Garden Waste Composting Facility in Sedgefield was illegal, running without a permit. The current administration has now paid the R50 000 fine that was imposed.
3. Cape Island Construction (Pty) Ltd was a contractor appointed for extensions to the Knysna Public Library. They were paid R1430 interest for late payment.
