The children of Knysna Primary School collected over R1600 for the e’Pap Children’s Feeding Project. This is the third year in a row that the children of KPS have supported this wonderful scheme that has delivered over 2 million meals to children on the Garden Route.
“Each year, around March, the Grade 6’s learn about nutrition”, said Shelley Godsell, the project’s director. “A few years ago I was approached by Margie Nolte, the English Gr 6 teacher, who asked us to come and address the children on what we do at e’Pap and the nutritional value of the porridge. The children collect their coins from tuck money, some of the children even contributing as much as R12 every week.(the cost of a packet of e’Pap).
Each year, we are presented with a bag of coins. This year, not only did we receive money from the Gr 6 classes, English and Afrikaans, but also from the Gr 7’s who wanted to continue their collections (having started last year).
It is wonderful to see children wanting to help others and to know that we have started a culture of giving and sharing.”
