Knysna is bound to sit upright when they discover who our legal teams are. But, first-
-two of the people who have laid charges of harassment and crimen injuria against me are Greg Vogt, the CEO of Knysna Tourism, and Magda Moos, DA Constituent and Deputy Chair of the Western Cape Police Board. I’ve already explained these charges and why it’s a golden opportunity to get answers.
‘Answers’ because I firmly believe that this is just more tactics by the Knysna Municipality and the DA to stop me digging for the truth about what led to Knysna Tourism’s bankruptcy, who was responsible and who should be punished – I want squandered taxpayers’ monies paid back by those who must lose their jobs – Greg Vogt, Lauren Waring (Municipal Manager), Grant Easton (Finance Director), Georlene Wolmarans (Mayor) and Esme Edge (Deputy Mayor) are some of the biggest suspects on my list.
Magda Moos is now in the mix because she lied about getting answers at a meeting with MEC Alan Winde and would not provide the recording of said meeting. She’s made herself out to be an aggrieved charity worker and business lady but the fact is that she not only decided to play her hand in politics but chosen to do wrong as well.
I’ve no money for legal fees and was tempted to defend myself rather than apply for Legal Aid – although I know this case and context better than anyone else, the absence of ‘legal niceties’ would have been a disadvantage. That was of concern as I’ve witnessed injustice before, money for a lawyer trumping the truth.
However, I was favoured with a charitable fortune when Advocate Eduard Bruwer a.k.a. Broekies ‘the Bomber’ Bruwer (made well known to Knysna through his victory for Johann Burmeister) offered to represent me for free in the matter of Greg Vogt. As advocates are High Court players, an instructing attorney was needed for the Knysna Magistrate’s Court. Hardy Mills, who is likely as controversial in Plettenberg Bay as I am in Knysna, volunteered. Greater than the ‘infamy’ of his successes is his talent as the best municipal lawyer on the Garden Route.
I am fortunate indeed. Bolstered by self-conviction and terrific legal backing, I believed myself at the advantage as both Moos and Vogt had stated to Magistrate Goosen that they would be applying for Legal Aid. However-
-Vogt also presented an advocate – Julie Seton. The instructing attorney will be Colleen Nel from Foley-Nel Attorneys. Seton then stated that she’d be representing Moos for free.
Coincidence is not common in politics which is more a world of intention. I don’t believe that there’s any coincidence in the fact that the same advocate is representing both their cases. So I began asking questions and had someone tell me that Julie Seton does work for the Knysna Municipality. That fact, alone, doesn’t mean much as we’re a small town and it’s likely that most legal representatives have done so, at some stage, whether small or large. However, two people told me that Julie Seton is in fact the girlfriend of Deputy Mayor Esme Edge. If that is true, it would prove intriguing as I consider Edge complicit in the tourism mess that Vogt and Moss are involved in.
On hearing that Seton was representing both of them against me, Mills and Bruwer offered to represent me in the Moos case too – thank you, gentlemen – my appreciation is boundless!
So it’s big guns drawn for a legal battle in our small town’s courts. Magistrate Goosen will preside over Greg Vogt vs Mike Hampton on October 29 2014. The date for Magda Moos vs Mike Hampton will only be decided on September 17 2014. So that the cases don’t interfere with one another, a different Magistrate will have to be delegated for that one.
