Herman van Niekerk Snr (Herman) and Margaretha van Niekerk (Retha) are con artists, crediting themselves with accomplishments that are lies. This husband and wife team has been exposed as fraudsters with fake qualifications. They run an illegal Knysna business called Fulcrum Limited trading as Maritime Risk Solutions which supplies armed forces for ship and harbour protection overseas.
They’ve failed to register their business with CIPC (business registration) and PSIRA (which is the only way for their kind of business to operate and for their staff to legally carry semi-automatic weapons such as the AK-47). Their claim to have a shooting range was also lying.
The respectability of their company is built on lies.
For this writer, this story was finished but has insisted on living, albeit it more like a staggering zombie – the reactions of the community of Knysna and the friends of the Van Niekerks has been inappropriately inhumane.
The correct response by their acquaintances should’ve been horror and disappointment, followed by thanks for the exposure and demand of accountability from the Van Niekerks. Instead, the Knysna Dragon’s Swimming Club’s response to me was poorly disguised insults whereas the witches were blatantly insulting.
Yes, the word “witches” is no surprise to those who’ve been following this story. For those of you who haven’t, you best catch-up:
- The Psychologist and Men With Guns
- South African Witches and Vampires supporting fraud
- Jesus Christ, witches are suing me!
The goal here is to amplify the credibility of my previous blogs whilst dismissing repeated propaganda by Damon Leff (leader of a witches’ coven and the South African Pagan Rights Alliance) who claims I’ve presented no evidence.

Of course, most of this information should be unnecessary to any friend of the Van Niekerks who chooses common sense i.e. simply ask the Van Niekerks to provide proof that Retha van Niekerk is a psychologist and that Herman van Niekerk Snr has a Masters in Business Administration. Defending friends whilst failing basic action is either bias or hidden agenda.
Sadly, no one has been publicly moral or logical. Instead, rumours float like zombie farts whilst Leff and SAPRA state they’re suing me for defamation. The latter is ironic considering that they’ve defamed me whilst protecting criminals (I’ll sue in return).
I take particular offence to Leff’s third party attempts to have my related online posts removed by the ISPA and hosters Hetzner which, like much else in South Africa, insist on being part of a broken system which applies take-down notices without reviewing if complaints have merit and without considering rebuttal by the defendant. If need be, and because I value our country’s Constitution, we’ll all appear in Court.
Freedom of information in the public interest must be fought for!
To be intimidated by evil is to allow evil to win. I refuse to be one of the selfish fools who would slip in a pool of blood only to pretend that it was strawberries so that their diminishing quality of life continued.
Yes, this is personal, as it should be for anyone who loves our town.
For Retha van Niekerk’s and SAPRA’s claims that she’s either a doctor, clinical psychologist or trauma councillor, she’d have to be registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPSCA) – she isn’t – check ‘Margaretha van Niekerk’ or ID number 6911010011080 at http://isystems.hpcsa.co.za/iregister.
Once she was under investigation, she suspiciously altered her social media profiles. Here’s before:
And after, her reduced education (although the University of Arizona lie is maintained):
Her qualification from the University of Sedona (which is in Arizona but isn’t the University of Arizona) is a religious degree and thus carries no merit in South Africa. In addition to the screenshots below, this can be checked by contacting the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) – www.saqa.org.za/show.php?id=5642.
In addition, she more directly pretended to be a doctor and psychologist…
Contrary to the screenshot below, in which the Knysna Dragon’s swimming Club falsely stated she was a psychologist, they also stated that she worked for Swimming SA. Swimming SA doesn’t recall her.
Her behaviour online isn’t stereotypical of a mental health helper…
Maybe most disturbingly, her fake qualifications provided legitimacy to her illegal directorship of the well-armed illegal company, Maritime Risk Solutions.
Herman van Niekerk Snr gained his fake degree from Belford University, one of the most infamous fake universities in the world. Although he’s removed the qualification from his company website, proof of his illegal use of it remains online in other places such as a 2015 company profile, and on his Krav Maga page and on Fundable.com:
SAQA will also confirm the obvious, that his degree isn’t recognised
in South Africa www.saqa.org.za/show.php?id=5642. His ID is 5408115006082.
Herman van Niekerk Snr lied that his Fulcrum Limited company, trading as Maritime Risk Solutions, isn’t based in South Africa and thus doesn’t have to register. He operates from Thesen Islands in Knysna and profiled it online as being based in South Africa, removing what he could from his website once he came under investigation. His 2015 Company Profile, as shown in the previous section, lists Thesen Islands as the address on its first page.
Herman van Niekerk Snr claimed to have overseas offices but failed to provide proof of this. Instead, there are only postal addresses for agents.
Additionally, the Seychelle’s details were removed from their company website 3 months ago – www.matchdeck.com.
All companies operating in South Africa must be registered with CIPC. Even though Van Niekerk Snr has lied about the need for registration, there are no exceptions for companies claiming to be based overseas yet operating here. In fact, the Companies Act states that they only have 23 days to register and must handover 28% of their income to SARS. Fulcrum Limited and Maritime Risk Solutions aren’t registered. That would likely mean that they’re not registered with SARS either.
His wife was falsely listed as a psychologist on their company website, a fact that doesn’t change now that they’re hiding it:
All security companies must be listed with PSIRA. Thereafter their Directors and security staff must be registered too. Those registrations must fall under the company registration i.e. weapons grading from past employment doesn’t count. Fulcrum Limited and Maritime Risk Solutions aren’t registered – http://online.psira.co.za/psiraweb/Logon.do.
There is only one weapon training ground in Knysna. The Homtini Tactical Shooting Academy has confirmed that the Van Niekerk’s or their business are not their owners, nor do they have a contract with them.. There are strict controls regarding weapons so it’s no surprise that they’re also not registered to run this kind of business. If they were, they’d state the name of the business and their registration – they haven’t. Their claim of having a shooting range has been removed from their website but evidence of the falsehood cannot be so easily erased from websites they don’t own.
Herman van Niekerk Snr waves an international ISO registration for Maritime Risk Solutions as false authenticity. He’s failed to state that it:
1. It was gained by a voluntary, online sign-up.
2. The company’s ISO registration no longer applies since the governing body changed the law in 2012 i.e. a voluntary declaration of obeying international law is no longer sufficient. One must be a member to be ISO certified. Fulcrum Limited and Maritime Risk Solutions aren’t registered – refer to www.iso.org/standard/42146.html.
3. An ISO registration doesn’t negate South African law.
Maritime Risk Solutions is also not, as claimed, members of ICOA – https://www.icoca.ch/en/membership.
In reference to the previous section:
Note that emails should be read from bottom to top, from earliest date onwards.
No matter how much he wrote, it’s obvious that Herman van Niekerk Snr was being evasive. In 23 days, he’s failed to provide proof to support his and his wife’s claims. And it’s easy to point out additional lies e.g.
Mike: “Retha isn’t qualified to conduct personality profiles for staff recruitment for Fulcrum t/a Maritime Risk Solutions, staff who then receive automatic weapons thereafter.”
Herman: “She may do any of the Personality Profile Analyses for FULCRUM Limited as the specific program used is a UK model which does not require any specific tertiary qualification. Weapons has nothing to do with it.”
The following screenshots contradict him, saying that the tests are unique, designed by his wife:
The whistleblower’s computer was hacked. Owing to the whistleblower’s reluctance to corroborate my source, I reluctantly hold back posting the one document I have that proves what I’m saying. However, if I’m taken to court, I will use it.
I also make it emphatically clear that there’s no evidence that Herman Snr’s likeable son was involved. It may just be a coincidence that he works for Maritime Risk Solutions and is an IT expert with a LinkedIn profile that listed as an “ethical hacker” (that description has since been removed). In fact, some of the vampires in SAPRA claim to be computer experts too (to newcomers who failed to read the prequels, yes, I said “vampires”).
I believed it likely that unsuspecting acquaintances had, like me, been conned by Retha and Herman Van Niekerk. I expected them to share my disappointment. I contacted with good intention, seeking to alert them whilst gaining information. For example, to the Knysna Dragon’s swimming Club I included, “I seek accountability but my goal isn’t to damage the good work you do. If you were duped, own it and send me a short press statement. I will treat your kindly.” Of course, that’s what I wanted, even more so because I’ve got a soft spot for small businesses, especially anyone working to develop children.
Unfortunately, Damon Leff, SAPRA and the Knysna Dragons Swimming Club had no intention in addressing the Van Niekerk’s duplicity. Instead, they chose to insult me. Their behaviour hasn’t at all been in the spirit of community standing up. As has happened for too many stories before this, cliques remain cliques.
Grant Ferguson (Knysna Dragons) ended with, “Not cool Mike. This was the biggest waste of time and energy I have dealt with in a long time.”
Nicholas Cole was more careful with his wording but the result is the same, to pretend that all is ok and do nothing. That should never have been an option.
Keep in mind that parents, as shown earlier, were assured that their kids were in good hands, partly because of Retha van Niekerk had lied that she was a psychologist who’d previously been employed by Swimming SA.

The more concerning emails of Damon Leff (Witch/SAPRA, SAPC) will be addressed in the following article.
The Knysna SAPS, Southern Cape SAPS and Western Province SAPS failed to respond as to why they have not acted the past 11 months. Their silence erases the dignity of their uniform. Cops are supposed to serve and help citizens in need, not help crooks with a failure to enact the law.
Brigadier Neil Oliver, from the Hawks, was the only justice figure to respond. He told me that I should press charges but didn’t answer my questioning why that was necessary when the police had long failed to act on information already in their possession, the result being the protection of the Van Niekerks. I said: “I contacted you because I was informed that the SAPS and Hawks have long been involved but have failed to act. That means that a case is already open, that you already have all the necessary information. I contact you regarding that failure, hoping you will act on information you already have, not to make my own case.”
Despite having all the information for months, the Knysna-Plett Herald has failed, thus far, to print this important story.
