Moving Again, After the Fire
Moving again.
I’ve been fortunate after the Great Knysna Fire, helped so many times. They may be different roofs but there has always been a roof. One can never underestimate that value – it takes a different breed of person to survive our streets in Winter.
Oyster Fest bookings means i have to leave a very comfortable bed, in a self-catering flat, for 3 days. I was kindly offered a dead man’s flat but was told yesterday that they couldn’t get the smell out (i won’t go into detail of what happened there). So i’m back to the garage i was in previously. It’ll be colder there but the owners are very warm people.
I may come into town once a day to check my email over coffee but won’t be able to be as active online as normal. I’m treating that as a good thing. I like order so it bugs me big time that my laptop’s desktop is littered. My first job will be to clear it, my second to file the many screenshots and fire info from the past 5 weeks. Hopefully, on the third day, i can prepare criminal charges against a couple of people.
I’d hoped to get to the bottom of the donations situation/mess the past 2 weeks but that’s been snailish. My bank was positive but has now backed off providing a press release release whilst they wait for the DA to get their ducks in a row. The positive here is that they had a roomful of donations from other branches which they didn’t know what to do with so i recommended a local organisation which they met and are now giving to 🙂 Gift of the Givers gave me a call yesterday so hopefully there’s headway there soon. Regards local unregistered charities, there were those who meant well and then suddenly found themselves with more donations and an accounting situation they’d never predicted. I recommended to one (whose heart i strongly believe was in the right place) that they immediately register and declare what they’ve received. I’m also gathering tidbits of info regards fraud.
Yesterday, i received a threatening lawyer’s letter from Knysna Mayor Eleanore Spies. Today, i’ll have to deal with that as well as the sale of my dad’s plot in the suburb, Hunter’s Home.
I’m glad that i never accepted donations of large items. The exception Judah Square donating me two shelving kits which i’ve left in someone’s office. And i bought a printer which i haven’t used yet.
Travelling light makes sense. Seeing less people will help me get my own affairs in order. I definitely won’t miss the Oyster Festival and this weekend’s traffic. I’ve also been given a season of Fargo to watch 🙂
I’ve scheduled a few light posts for you.
