After the Knysna Tourism AGM was cancelled with only 23hrs notice, Greg Vogt’s substantiation for such was simultaneously amusing and appalling. To me, it sounds far more plausible that they need to provide members more information so as to give themselves some protection for the role they played in the destruction that happened at Knysna Tourism. They will also be sure to tell you how much they’ve done this year so that history and penalty is overrriden.
It’s all to easy for me to sound like i’m flogging a dead donkey in my pursuit of truth but remember that that is only because they never gave it to us.
If you are a member, care about yourself and your business enough to attend (the vast majority of you don’t). And if you do attend, don’t be part of the majority that sit their meek and mild like lambs fearing a slaughter. Also be sure to not accept weak responses. I admire Greg Vogt as a speaker. He is intelligent and charming which makes him sound sincere which makes it all to easy for him to talk a lot without giving you a nitty-gritty response.
As i’ve said, concentrate, as a start, on budgets. All you have to do is ask for a breakdown of monies from 2011 and 2012. This must not be generalized totals that you can’t understand. Ask for a list providing a name of each person or company and the total monies they received from Knysna Tourism.
To make your life more difficult (and ensure that less people ask questions), Knysna Tourism is not allowing you to email them but instead making you put your queries in writing and physically deliver it to their offices. Play their game. It’s only one question and you can drop it off when you go into town to buy milk. It can be that simple. Please do so.
I have no doubt that this “this event…promises to be entertaining and informative” (as said below).
