Only the South African Public Can Save Itself
The South African police are corrupt and incompetent. The media have sold their soul to advertizers instead of the pursuit of truth. Politicians make promises that, after election, become lies – their fake policies and self-enrichment transcending their duty to the public (the victim). Mega corporations work hand in hand with them, hurting instead of helping, ensuring that education and food is delivered at a price that costs far too much.
Worse, the public make opinions of others based on race instead of fact, thus becoming it’s own assailant, a criminal destroyer of itself, a willing victim to the DA and ANC, South Africa’s foremost political parties, who use their bias and racial classification against them. Skills and potential are more important than the colour of our skins.
Who we are is more important than what we are.
These are, undoubtedly, desperate and despairing times. These are times for reassessment. I ask everyone, especially the wonderful people in my home town of Knysna (where we’ve allowed ourselves to become toys for politicians), to please do so. Hard times are an opportunity for honesty and realization. An opportunity to place blame where it belongs. An opportunity to accept responsibility for ourselves…not only because it’s the right thing to do but because it’s the only option we have left.
I’m tired of local businesses closing down, Knysna Tourism spending millions for dwindling tourists, homes being lost, the racial divide, increasing addiction, increasing crime, silent police, silent newspapers and a Knysna municipality run by unashamed liars. I’m tired of Knysna diluting itself from something beautiful towards looking like just another town.
We are most responsible for our lives and that of our families, friends and employees. Whether we rise or fall, work together or not, that is our choice; our blame or congratulations.
There is only one possible solution – do away with politics in local government and let the administration run it!!! Let the politicians fight their dirty battles on provincial and national level and leave our towns alone to be run by non-political officials. Why do we allow politicians to stick their dirty little fingers in all that is good and honest when attempting to run a town?
That would be wonderful! Instead, the public keep voting in people who refuse to work for them. When will they learn?
