Plett also Getting Screwed by the DA & Developers
The DA in Plettenberg Bay (Bitou) is getting up to the same nonsense as they have in Knysna – Developers First, Public Last. We’ve experienced it with the ISDF and the cutting of the wetlands. Plettenberg Bay is experiencing it with the proposed development for a Small Boat Harbour.
There is a pattern of events on the Garden Route that should disturb voters i.e. you don’t matter, only politicians and big business do…hell, no, i say – hopefully you do too! Our lives, our money and our vote matters.
An important blog about the Plett Small Boat Harbour Development has been posted on J.E.F.’s website. The re-posting of a Flip Joubert’s (he’s a member of the Save Plett Alliance) letter isn’t, fore-mostly, political – it serves to inform the public and protect Plett…but since almost everything gets used as a political weapon let me elaborate.
Political bias (ANC versus DA nonsense) makes many ignore the fact that J.E.F. has previously trumped the DA in court. Instead of looking at facts such as those, the chain of events, who did wrong and the service to justice, people will too often scream the accusation, “ANC,” as if one word can be a counter-argument. Further made ridiculous since only right and wrong should matter!
Considering the way South Africa has been run into the ground through corruption, i have a very poor opinion of the ANC. Unlike most, however, i can judge the merits and demerits of both parties and individuals in any given situation. It’s also essential that there’s communication between all so that we figure our way out of this mess.
My personal hope is that we all vote for independent candidates next municipal election and get the truth and acknowledgement we deserve. Consequently, i can, ironically, appreciate unfortunate situations like this when people’s first-hand experiences make them wonder what the hell is going on with the party they support (or used to support).
It also, hopefully, makes people realise that the issues, alone, are far more important than parading politicians and Municipal staff who come and go with their interests and not the public’s interest at heart.
