Protest in Knysna
Protests by the poor are thisĀ decade’s zeitgeist (spirit of the age).
There was another service delivery protest in Knysna yesterday as residents from White Location marched to hand Mayor Georlene Wolmarans demands for electricity, toilets and housing.
Such actions stir mixed feelings inside of me. As my readers will know, i’m highly critical of Knysna’s dishonest DA but ANC shirts leading anti-DA placards smacks of hypocrisy. How many of these same people protested when the ANC was in charge?
I believe that everyone in this “modern” era has the right to electricity and to shit safely into plumbing but i’m saddened and frustrated by the poor being used as pawns between political parties that only give a damn if there’s selfish gain for power.
I’ve yet to meet a good politician in Knysna. They are, wholly, unimpressive. There is only politics for selfish agenda. ForgetĀ newspaper headlines and instead ask yourself the question: “What has a politician done to, overall, improve the quality of life for you and your family.”
