Ross Taylor Surf Contest 2012
The weekend of the 10-12 August will see Buffalo Bay beach come alive as the over 250 contestants vie for the top spots and prizes on offer in the Ross Taylor Surf Contest.
Now in its 4th year, the dedicated support received from local business, loyal supporters and sponsors, has ensured that 2012 looks to be even bigger and better than previous years. We are all truly grateful for this. And thank each and every person who has been part of the contest again this year.
With only a few spots left in the surf divisions, and the SUP divisions filling up rapidly, the weekend promises to be a spectacle of surfing, SUP’ing, and a wide range of beach activities to keep the whole family entertained.
Surfing starts at 08.00 on Friday 10th and carries through to the final heats on Sunday at 12 pm Followed by the prize giving. A few of the past winners will be back to claim their spots again, and this year Andy Marr, Sean Holmes, Adin Jeenes, and Charles Reitz, and over 200 others will all be looking to gain the upper hand here. A spectacular amount of surfing action – and fun not to be missed.
Beach activities start on Saturday morning at 9am ( low tide) with the Fun Run walk to Brenton-on-sea and back, where all area welcome to join this. The sandcastle building will start at 10.00 and run till 11.30, The rest of the day sees an activity program jam packed with fun for all, including interactive Zumba , Treasure hunts, and Volleyball, and tug of war, to name a few.
The Saturday evening benefit bash includes drumming , fire dancing, and an auction of some awesome goodies, Live music line up of 3 bands, Dividable Grand, The Little Kings, and Rapid Auto Fire and DJ Supreme Alan Sass. There is also delicious food and a stocked bar for all to enjoy. And entry to the event is only R 30..per person.
At the heart of this contest is always the message of FUN and LOVE THROUGH GIVING – and all proceeds raised are donated to HOSPICE.
