Save Oudtshoorn from Darkness
Oudtshoorn, the “ostrich capital of the world” and our brother in Eden District, is in crisis. The lights may, literally, be turned off.
It’s a helluva statement of worry when a Minister pays a surprise visit (as Pravin Gordhan did) to find out what the hell is going on.
Then some of the ANC’s Provincial Executive Committee (PEC – a truly screwed up bunch themselves) turn up to force Mayor Gordon April (that rotten scoundrel) to sign a form dismissing 3 of his nefarious cohorts which included the Municipal Manager and the Finance Director. Of course, that was illegal as the Councillors would have to do so (even though those positions are filled illegally) but the Mayor, knowingly, did so anyway. When the PEC leaves, the Mayor then reinstates the same people – so much craziness and desperation at play!
It’s rumoured that the Municipality has failed to pay Oudtshoorn Tourism their grant-in-aid for 9 months and that the organisation is threatening legal action. Then there’s the Cango Caves whose funds have apparently been plundered. Let’s not forget the Mayor’s many court cases and MEC Anton Bredell’s refusal to help the town (as it was better to play politics and try one-up the ANC).
Now Eskom has given the town an ultimatum: PAY YOUR BILL OR WE TURN OFF THE POWER.
And so on and so on…
That town is screwed – the DA and ANC made sure of that. Will national government please put Oudtshoorn under administration. The town will immediately save money as the salaries of the politicians are automatically halted. Truth begs discovery, politicking needs killing and order requires restoration.
Save Oudtshoorn!
PS: Oudtshoorn is relevant to Knysna because we fall under the same district and some of the same politicians that damage them are damaging us e.g. MEC Anton Bredell and DA Estern Region Manager Jaco Londt. The battle for power doesn’t care about us people on the ground. If they were fighting for morality, they would have addressed our deepest concerns long ago instead of always trying to block the natural route to justice. Shame on them.
