Diemersdal was founded in 1698 and today is in the hands of the 7th generation of Matthys Michael Louw. It is one of the oldest estates in the Cape and one of the largest family owned wine estate in South Africa – 40% white wine, mainly Sauvignon Blanc, and 60% red wines.

Thys joined the farm in 2005 and since then has taken his passion, namely Sauvignon Blanc to greater heights, producing numerous award winning wines. In what it is believed to be a first of its kind, Thys Louw scooped seven gold medals for Sauvignon Blanc at the prestigious SA Michaelangelo Awards 2010. In the Terrior Awards, the Estate was rated Top Producer of the Durbanville region.
