We normally hear about all the politics and the politicians but not enough about the issues affecting the lives of the people they are suppose to serve.

Ralph Stander, from the ANC, emailed me (and many others, including Lauren Waring, our Municipal Manager) these cellphone photos showing the despicable state of facilities at the Rheenendal Sports Field, the area which is up for by-election, contested by Eleonor Bouw (DA) and Alberto Marbi (ANC),  on July 2 2014.

Knysna should be appalled that our children (yes, if we live here, they are all our children) are are so disregarded that their physical and mental health is subjected to these conditions? What view, when they grow up, will they have of the world? Will they be love Knysna?

Rather than this only be an election tool, the real question is where were both the ANC and the DA as these facilities degraded? Whether in power or as opposition, they cannot adopt the mantle of leadership without leading all the time. Then, of course, where was Knysna Municipality and the Knysna SAPS?

Embattled by alcohol, tik and subsequent crime, there is some mitigation for the community not helping itself.

There’s enough blame to go around but right now it falls on the Knysna Council and the Knysna Municipality to implement a plan of correction. Love our children!
