Short hike in Namib Desert outside Swakopmund
My heart’s farewell to Swakopmund in Namibia was a short hike across the rocks and dry riverbed, and into the dunes of the Namib Desert. Weak from a two-week chest infection, it was a bit challenging but well worth it. Although I occasionally saw distant 4x4s and hikers atop distant dunes, I was alone for a long time until the wind found me for company. Later, I bumped into some camels (video) but they were more interested in eating the leaves of small trees than speaking to me. It was a good place to think about the road ahead, my trip to the hell of South Africa where daemons await me.
