Water urgently needed.

If you’re a tourist travelling back home through Aliwal North or Colesberg, please carry a few bottles of water, anything from 300ml to 5l, so that you drop them off at any petrol station in the main road of the two towns.

The roads are extremely busy so it would be a wonderful and easy help if each car had a Water Angel Driver.

Aliwal has no water whatsoever and Colesberg is almost out of water. In fact, the majority of South Africa is in drought, the worst in decades. 5 provinces have been declared emergency areas. The once lush, mid-summer fields of the Orange Free State are now a dust bowl. North-West is no better. Over-grazing by inexperienced farmers has exacerbated the problem. Cattle are dying.

Expect cheaper meat prices in the short term as farmers are forced to slaughter their herds. Overall, food prices will keep increasing.

And summer, with an insanely hot December, has just begun…

Even here in Knysna, Sedgefield and Plett, buy an extra bottle of water or soda water when you’re in the shop and give it to homeless person or one of those poor people handing out flyers or watching cars. It’s easy to make a difference in someone’s day.
