Stepping Stones School Musical Celebration for Africa Day
Stepping Stones School celebrated their annual Music Day on 25 May with parents, friends and special guests from Garden Gates.
This year the idea was to expose the children to different genres of music. The children from each class sang for the guests.
The Grade 3’s and 4’s gave a polished performance of Gumboot dancing, much to the delight of the audience. Renard De Vries, in Grade 2, was outstanding with his dance and look alike Michael Jackson.
Mr James Smith’s hidden talent was discovered when he sang Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Any Dream Will Do’. Steve Collins gave an accomplished Bagpipe performance. He will be piping with The Cape Town Highlanders at the Edinburgh Tattoo. Mr Kaz Davids, a local singer & musician, entertained the guests well with his special style.
Africa Day coincided with our Music Day which aptly ended with an excellent display of drumming and dance by the Siyaya Artist Productions who regularly entertain foreign guests at Wandu Ekasi Restaurant in Khayalethu near Percy Mdala School. These accomplished performers entertain foreign guests for the Knysna Township Tours.
A wonderful hour celebrating our children and Africa’s diversity. Thank you to all who made the day a great success.

Love it when children are exposed to other cultures. It’s a step towards understanding as adults.
