A car crash on the N2 near the turn-off to Old Cape Road in Knysna has driven from seeming disaster into a very good news story! Last night, April 10, two locals, a man and his wife, were traveling towards town centre when the man fell asleep at the wheel. The car veered across the on-coming traffic lane and, at an angle, smashed through 3 barrier posts. Knysna Cyclist in Taxi Hit & Run

“We witnessed a hit and run on the 3rd of July. A Quantum taxi with number plate CBS55185 hit one of the cyclists participating in the Oyster Festival. We phoned 112 to report it, at 10:30am that day. It was between Sedgefield and the Buffalo Bay turn off.”   The couple watched an impatient taxi, ahead of them on the N2, cross into the cyclists lane that had been designated for the day. Car Crash Kills Knysna Locals

2 Knysna adults died and 16 people were seriously injured when a taxi collided with a Jetta 5km from Knysna, on the way to Plettenberg Bay, on Friday, January the 3rd. Although a charge of manslaughter has being opened against the taxi driver, i don’t know enough to know who was at fault – this is about tragedy not blame. We’re a small town so more were affected than those directly involved.

Knysna Municipal Manager in Car Crash – 2 Dead

The seasonal, holiday toll of accidents continues unabated. Knysna’s Municipal Manager, Lauren Waring, was in a car crash in Willowmore (which is approximately 150km inland from Knysna. Tragically, Waring’s husband and mother are dead. Her and her daughter are in the Mediclinic in George with broken bones but will survive. Waring is apparently undergoing surgery today. Waring is a well known and infamous figure on this blog which is why i waited a day for confirmation before reporting lest i be insensitive with inaccuracy.
