Amanda Palmer Clock at the Back of the Cage

Amanda Palmer & Edward Ka-Spel’s I Can Spin a Rainbow album is the opposite of taking LSD in outerspace. It’s dreamy but it isn’t dream pop. It’s magical but there’s no unicorns. It’s a ghost addressing hard reality. It’s eerie and full of loss looking at love. It’s indescribable by me but that’s ok ’cause the haunting stop motion video for the song ‘The Clock at the Back of the Cage’ will do it for me. It’ll speak to you in profound ways if you play it fullscreen and listen … Read the full article…

Sex, Miley Cyrus, Amanda Palmer & Me

Mike Hampton Posted on 7th Apr 2018 by mikehampton9th Mar 2019

Mike Hampton Posted on 29th Jun 2016 by mikehampton21st Jan 2021

Amanda Todd exposed her breasts online when she was in the 7th grade. She became the victim of severe cyberbullying which culminated in her suicide at the age of 15. Her story is one of the most well known of its kind on the net. It became a clarion call for laws against cyberbullying and cybercrime. 4 years after her death, a Dutch court has approved the extradition of a Dutchman to Canada over her cyberbullying. It’s an important step for justice in our world that has become socially reliant … Read the full article…

Wounded to Death (Stopping Violence Against Women)

Mike Hampton Posted on 26th Dec 2013 by mikehampton1st Nov 2020

“Men you beat up to death; women you rape first and then you let them die. It’s the way things have been since the dawn of time and these stories no longer make the news.” [watch the video above] That’s an extract from the speech by Serena Dandini and Maura Misiti that Amanda Palmer, one of my favourite performers, delivered to the United Nations for the International Day to End Violence against Women last month. Amanda, some of you may recall, was in one of the videos i insisted you … Read the full article…
