Insane Art Prices Reflect Rich vs Poor World
The world is insane. Picasso’s ‘Women of Algiers’ painting sold for R2.26-billion. Alberto Giacometti’s ‘Pointing Man’ statue sold for R1.7-billion. No matter how much i appreciate art and history, i cannot appreciate the wealth that is flung around as if to prove that inequality is getting worse. In Britain, the 100 richest people doubled their total worth the past decade.
