ANC’s Baleka Mbete betrayed South Africa, disgraced herself

Mike Hampton Posted on 3rd Nov 2019 by mikehampton1st Nov 2020
Baleka Mbete interviewed by Aljazeera

According to Baleka Mbete, the ANC doesn’t have to accept responsibility for South Africa having one of the worst murder rates in the world because colonialists brought crime. This woman was previously Deputy President. As Speaker of Parliament, she was paid an annual salary of R2.7-million to protect us – instead, it feels as if she robbed us. It’s an important interview symbolically demonstrating the callousness of politics. Her many terrible responses to questions from Al Jazeera vivdly painted our Government’s indifference to us citizens. Imagine Jacob Zuma’s horrendous laugh … Read the full article…

Zuma Loses Major Constitutional Court Case

Mike Hampton Posted on 29th Dec 2017 by mikehampton1st Nov 2020

Today, the Constitutional Court of South Africa ruled that the National Assembly of Parliament had failed its Constitutional obligation to hold President Jacob Zuma (ANC) accountable. For better or worse, the judgement is a legal landmark. SEPARATION OF POWERS It was a majority judgement meaning that not all judges agreed. Although the Public will simplify this into another Zuma topic, the far-reaching core is the lessened separation of powers between the Judiciary and the Legislature. Cyril Ramaphosa has become the President of the African National Congress (ANC), the ruling party of South Africa since 1994. Ramaphosa is closer to becoming President of an increasingly divided country when general elections are held in 2019. However, his ruling the nation isn’t guaranteed. It was a stormy road to the ANC’s 54th National Conference which was held this past weekend (December 16-20 2017). The build-up and the nature of politics carries insight into the uncertain future of South Africa. INCONVENIENT FRIENDS & CONVENIENT ENEMIES 2017 has arguably being … Read the full article…

DA & EFF Stand Together

Mike Hampton Posted on 17th Sep 2014 by mikehampton1st Nov 2020

About bloody time! The DA, EFF and smaller parties were real opposition when they acted together by walking out of South Africa’s Parliament yesterday. The source of conflict was Speaker Baleka Mbete. Her position is a difficult one, requiring neutrality and general respect from all members of parliament. Under the Institutional Mandate on Parliament’s website, as the leader of the House, the Speaker has the responsibility to:
