Corruption in the Office of the Public Protector

Public Protector corruption Busisiwe Mkhwebane Oupoa Segalwe protecting Democratic Alliance corruption

The Office of the Public Protector (OPP) has been protecting the corruption of the Democratic Alliance. This is one of the four most important publications I’ve made in nine years of activism. The others are my affidavit to the Hawks, my submission to NCOP and my book, ‘Same Shit Different Government’. It’s my firm belief that Senior Investigator Gideon Landman, George Branch Manager of the OPP, should be in jail. His boss, Western Cape Manager Sune Griessels, and his ex-colleague Bruce Wessels, deserve investigation too. So does Ruthven Janse van … Read the full article…

DA misuses millions on illegal tourism companies

Mike Hampton Posted on 26th Sep 2018 by mikehampton1st Nov 2020
DA corruption Alan Winde Helen Zille

Private tourism companies in the Western Cape are being illegally funded from Public funds. This is about DA corruption that places an enormous question mark over MEC Tourism Alan Winde, the DA’s Western Cape Premier candidate. This story began in Knysna but impacts on the economic health of the province and the national perception of the DA. It will likely grow to impact the 2019 elections. I have laid complaint with the Office of the President and the Western Cape Hawks. The former has acknowledged my complaint and the latter … Read the full article…

Part 1: DA, Knysna & Public Protector

Mike Hampton Posted on 29th Jan 2017 by mikehampton10th Jan 2021

Dear Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane, this is a summary of the first complaint of DA corruption. It involves the DA allowing millions to be given to a Section 21 company annually. The funds were abused and misused whilst DA councillors were Directors on its Board. When this was exposed, they promoted some of the guilty so as to maintain cover-up. As our town of Knysna is a tourist-based economy, the gravity of the wrong is heavier. In some parts, for public consumption, I may change/exclude names where they affect ongoing … Read the full article…

#1: Facts vs DA’s Response to Parliament

Mike Hampton Posted on 18th Apr 2016 by mikehampton1st Nov 2020
Flag of the Republic of South Africa

It’s crazy that the Knysna Municipality and Democratic Alliance (DA) wouldn’t answer Parliament’s questions regarding my allegations of corruption and maladministration at Knysna Tourism. They claimed they couldn’t because Knysna Tourism is a Section 21 company. That’s the same as the previous Municipal Manager’s unhelpful statement to Public Protector Bruce Wessels: “We advise that Knysna Tourism is not an entity of the Knysna Municipality nor do we have majority control or shareholding within Knysna Tourism. The Knysna Municipality only provides an annual grant to Knysna Tourism and the relationship between … Read the full article…

Tourism Truth #2: The Lauren Waring Lie

Mike Hampton Posted on 13th Jun 2014 by mikehampton16th Jan 2021
De Lille resigns, Mmusi Maimane and DA day of shame

Another central figure in the Knysna Tourism controversy has always been Knysna’s Municipal Manager. Lauren Waring would not assist the public protector by saying what can only amount to a serious distortion of the truth in practice: “We advise that Knysna Tourism is not an entity of the Knysna Municipality nor do we have majority control or shareholding within Knysna Tourism. The Knysna Municipality only provides an annual grant to Knysna Tourism and the relationship between the two parties is regulated by a service level agreement… it should be noted … Read the full article…
