Mmusi Maimane is the new leader of the Democratic Alliance (DA). Voting, at the DA’s 6th Federal Congress (held in Port Elizabeth) favoured him, as expected. 93% of voters participated. Helen Zille, the outgoing leader, received the envelope that included his name and then held it high above her head for all to see. The Federal Chair position was won by Athol Trollip.
